Tell us a little bit about you and your business

As a wedding musician, I have a vast array of songs which I can perform in any style as requested by couples. Not only am I a singing harpist, but I can also be booked to perform as a soloist on my saxophone or flute with backing tracks. I perform on a smaller Pilgrim's pedal harp which is the perfect size for any intimate setting. It may be smaller than your average orchestral harp but it can produce a full sound that will generate a unique and calming atmosphere, inside or outside of your venue.

What three words would you use to describe your business?

Delightful, diverse, efficient.

What’s your biggest business highlight to date?

It actually wasn't a wedding but a corporate event. I was booked by Laings Jewellers to perform for their big event for 3 days. I felt extremely glamorous playing next to displays of Cartier and Rolex. Everyday was different from playing saxophone with backing tracks during their open evening, to romantic songs on the harp next to a young gentleman buying an engagement ring.

What top tips would you give someone organising their event or wedding?

To know the timings for your event in advance. It really helps with making sure every domino falls into place for a stress-free day. Always ask your suppliers for their experience as they will know best. I provide my couples with a guide that I have produced called "Picking your own ceremony music".

I would recommend picking only a one-minute snippet of a song for your aisle walk. Personally, I prefer that my brides be as specific as they like with this song. Choose whether it is the intro of the song you like, a particular verse or maybe it could be the chorus. This music will capture the first look.

During this part of the ceremony, I am normally asked to sing with the harp. It is totally up to you if you would like this or not. Either way, I will always aim to conclude the section of song that you have picked gracefully without a sudden stop as you reach your partner.

What is your most favourite piece to play during a wedding service?

Classic Disney. I am a hopeless romantic for the classic love stories in a fairy-tale. The lyrics are so eloquently written yet simple and to the point. The notation and chords just melt my heart.

I absolutely love mixing classical songs with modern pop hits, one of my favourite mixes is to add Canon in D with songs like "Somewhere over the rainbow", "You make my dreams come true" and "I don't want to miss a thing".

What is the most popular piece of music asked for?

During the ceremony, I offer music for 5 different sections of the event. These are the most popular songs for each:

Guests arriving: Stand by me
Bridesmaids/ring bearer: Moon river
Bride's entrance: How long will I love you
Signing of the register: Can't help falling in love
Couples exit up the aisle: Signed, sealed, delivered
Guests exit: Hooked on a feeling
