In recent years, the venue has been crowned both a Silver and Gold Winner, for the best wedding venue in the prestigious South West Tourism Excellence Awards. The team and venue have also gained international recognition in the International Wedding Awards, among others. Our aim is to provide you with the most exquisite service imaginable, with a dedicated wedding co-ordinator from our team being assigned to you once your date is confirmed. They will be with you during the planning stages of your special day, and on the day itself to ensure your wedding runs seamlessly. As well as our award winning service, you will enjoy complementary extras, such as fairy lights, uplighters, a staffed and stocked bar and garden games. The venue itself is in a league of it’s own, with most Medieval monasteries being destroyed during the 15th century, Blackfriars Priory survived due to being the private residence of the Mayor of Gloucester at the time. The site boasts unrivalled features, such as the 65ft scissor-braced ceiling in the iconic North Range, which displays original 13th century oak beams that were gifted by King Henry III. The site also houses the Medieval Scriptorium, which is believed to be the oldest standing purpose-built library in Northern Europe and is of international significance. In the South West of England, it is among the most historically important monuments of the area, along with famous landmarks such as Stonehenge.

We can only offer a limited number of weddings each year here at Blackfriars Priory, meaning that we are a highly exclusive venue, that each couple experiences a bespoke service and each wedding is completely unique. To suit different sizes and styles of celebrations, we offer different venue hire package options, which all include a dedicated in-house coordinator, staffing, furniture, fairy lights, uplighters, a fully staffed and stocked bar and more. Our prices range from £1790.00 to £8978.oo and food and drinks are then charged separately, meaning you have flexibility to go as grand or as simple as you would like.

The venue’s location is perfect for allowing guests to access your celebrations easily and more sustainably, with it being within close walking distance of rail and bus routes. It is ideally located adjacent to Gloucester’s historic docks, offering an abundance of quirky photo opportunities next to the Quayside and boats and the opportunity to extend your celebrations either onsite with us or at the nearby restaurants and water activities available at Gloucester Quays.
We offer competitive drinks packages or offer the option of corkage to bring your own. For the food, we have an incredible list of carefully chosen caterers, giving you the freedom to choose food that suits your vision and budget. Our caterers can provide anything from formal dining, through to grazing boards, pizza, street food, build your own stations and world cuisine.
