Tell us a little bit about you and your business

My name is Phil and I am the owner and head photographer at Philtography. I have always had a great passion for photography and have now been shooting weddings throughout the UK for 12 years. I always view it as a great honour to be asked to capture a couple’s happiest day.  My style is very much a relaxed, friendly approach, always going above and beyond for all of my couples and I fully appreciate that each wedding is totally unique with different people with different personalities therefore a very different feel to the day and so my photography style adapts to suit.

What three words would you use to describe your business?

Natural, friendly, creative.

What’s your biggest business highlight to date?

Building my way up from essentially a love of photography into the thriving and successful business it is today and getting to know lots of other people in the industry.

What top tips would you give someone organising their event or wedding?

Really do your research when choosing your photographer as price is only one aspect but their style, personality, experience are crucial to getting photos which you will treasure for the rest of your life. After all, your photos and videos are the only ‘take away’ item from this entire day.

What do you like best about being a wedding photographer?

The food…haha. No, it’s being able to share so many people’s happiest, once in a lifetime, day and being able to preserve the memories for them to enjoy and share for many generations to come.

What are the most popular shots people ask for at weddings?

People love the candid/natural moments I capture when people are unaware I am there, such as laughing hard or crying at a speech.

What are your favourite moments to capture on a wedding day?

This is a really difficult one as all parts of the wedding have their magical moments but some of my very favourite shots are the groom’s reaction to seeing his bride walk down the aisle and the speeches are always great to capture when they are emotional or funny.

How would you describe your photography style?

My photography style is a delicate blend of beautiful posed portraits with a huge amount of natural, candid, storytelling images from the day.
