Get to know the fabulous suppliers joining us at our Wedding Experience Day this May. Today, we’re introducing you to M’s Sweet Creations, a Cheltenham-based cake designer, crafting luxurious bakes with the finest attention to detail.

Specialising in bespoke creations, owner Marta has a gift for natural, rustic cakes that are light on the palate and in design. From refreshing naked cakes to refined fondant masterpieces, she puts passion into the smallest details, ensuring guests have the largest smiles.

Tell us a little bit about you

I’m Marta and I live in Cheltenham which is where M’s Sweet Creations HQ is based. I love nature, animals and all things outdoorsy. I’m a keen horse rider and tend to spend hours walking with my two children and dogs. I would love to have a little beach house and fall asleep to the sound of waves every night.

M’s Sweet Creations has been created from my passion to baking and creating. I love the final effect and there’s no better reward than seeing faces of my customers and even tears! Being trusted to put my clients vision into reality for their Big Day is a huge privilege.

What three words would you use to describe your business?

Luxurious, Creative, Delicious.

What’s your biggest business highlight to date?

Many of my customers come back to me on various occasions to make their cakes, and it’s the best feeling knowing that they’d rather have me create their cakes than anyone else!

What top tips would you give someone organising their event or wedding?

Ideally get organised early (saying that, I love a last minute booking!) as your preferred suppliers can get booked up early. Get a wedding tasting session scheduled, as it always makes the wedding cake planning that bit more special and who doesn’t like cake!

Where do you get your inspiration from for your cake designs?

I get inspiration for my cake designs from nature, wedding themes and simply my imagination. I usually get an idea after seeing colour schemes, bridesmaid dresses and getting to know my couples. That way I always try to incorporate their personalities into the final design.

On the lead up to a wedding, what is your typical schedule?

6 weeks before - Checking if I need to order any special supplies (flowers, decoration etc – being organised here is key!)

Day 1 – Bake

Day 2 – Fill and stack

Day 3 – Decorate, delivery and set up

There is also a bit of admin in between, tasting and simply cake everywhere!

What cake trends are currently big right now?

Anything floral, carved/sculpted, colourful, bold is definitely a hit this year. Pressed/edible flowers look so gorgeous and they taste amazing! “Painting” with buttercream is also extremely popular and is an amazing alternative to flowers. Bright colours, with minimal decoration are also very much on trend this year.

If you were given free rein to design a custom wedding cake, what sort of design and flavours would you choose?

If I was given a free reign to design a wedding cake I would create a 3 tier with flowing/cascading dry flowers and pampas, incorporating feathers for a boho feel. Flavours would be Chocolate & Raspberry, Lemon, and Salted Caramel. The cake would be presented on a gorgeous macramé hanging stand to accentuate the light and natural design.
