Meet Matt

TELL US ABOUT YOUR ROLE:
My role is to show off the beauty of the venue to couples and then help them coordinate their special day with us to make it as memorable as possible. I also coordinate other events, whether that be a birthday party, an anniversary party or a corporate function, to ensure also that the events run smoothly and guests have a memorable time when with us. 

HOW LONG HAVE YOUR WORKED AT BLACKFRIARS?
I have worked behind the bar at Blackfriars for weddings since my first summer with the council in 2018 and occasionally helping with events when needed. I have been a permanent member of the team since June this year.

WHAT DOES A TYPICAL WORKING DAY FOR MATT LOOK LIKE?
No two days are ever the same, but the majority of my time is spent doing a mixture of setting up and running weddings/events, to having meetings and discussions with couples to make sure their special day with us is tailored perfectly to their needs.

WHAT HAS BEEN THE HIGHLIGHT FROM YOUR TIME AT BLACKFRIARS SO FAR?
Working at one of the Summer Socials in 2020. Experiencing live music again after being without it for so long will stay in my memory.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE FEATURE OF THE PRIORY?
The fact that you can work here for a number of years and you will still spot something new about the Priory that you haven't noticed before.

WHAT DO YOU ENJOY DOING OUTSIDE OF WORK?
I run and organise Pride events when I'm not working events - you could say I really enjoy events! I am also a massive fan of drag; RuPauls Drag Race and local artists.

YOU’RE AT A WEDDING… WHAT SONG GETS YOU UP ON THE DANCEFLOOR?
Anything I can dance to! At a wedding I'm either found on the dancefloor or at the buffet!

IT’S A RELAXED SUNDAY AFTERNOON… WHAT FILM DO YOU POP ON?
Hocus Pocus! I love it! I can recite it word for word pretty much!
